2008 US Election

You bet Obama will be the next US president!

July 25th, 2008 by Matt Bennett

Bookies William Hill are now quoting Barack Obama at 4/11 (11-4 on) to be elected the next President of the United States after political betting punters have been piling in with their cash.

We have lengthened John McCain’s odds and now make him 2/1 to win the US election.

Obama is making all the right noises and certainly his odds and the money we’ve been taking in our offices, by phone and over the internet suggest that Obama is halfway to becoming the most powerful man in the world.

When a black man becomes a celebrity as a candidate for the U.S. Presidency - it is obvious that it is time to dismiss with affirmitive action.

For the first time in years America has the chance to elect an intelligent, dynamic and inspiring leader as their President. The odds of Obama are only just above John McCain’s which are still relatively low considering the low poll ratings of the current lame duck President Bush and the recent Democratic convention. However I believe these are reflective of the state of current American society. Maybe America isn’t ready for a black President which is such a waste because the rest of the world is. If it were up to the Germans, Obama would be winning with 74% of the vote! America needs to wake up and realise that the world doesn’t want a George Bush clone and 4 more years of the Republicans. Let’s just hope we’ll be saying Obama 2012 after the first successful term and 20 pounds says he gets the Presidency of his second term aswell! I wonder if William Hill would give me the odds on that!

America doesn’t care what the rest of the world wants us to vote; we vote for the President we want, not who you want, and maybe Obama should run for German president if he is so popular there.

I use a widget to keep track of the progression of polls. The widget shows the election polls by strength of states.
In addition to other different graphical visualizations of data, this one displays the progression of votes over time.

    It gives a great overview!

I think you might like it:-)

Michael, that’s a great widget. And if I’m reading it correctly, it suggests a narrow Democrat win in the US election.

Sounds like John McCain has definitely got his work cut out if he’s going to beat Barack Obama!
