2008 US Election

John Edwards

John Edwards has withdrawn his candidacy for President of the United States.

The Democratic front-runner in 2004 and eventual vice-presidential candidate, John Edwards was unlikely to make a huge impact this time round.

His chance may have come if the fight between Clinton and Obama got so close and bloody that the party looked for a compromise candidate. With that looking unlikely, Edwards pulled out before Super Tuesday.

Edward’s support in favour of either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama could prove decisive, however, and he may still have a say in the outcome of the US election.
